What a shame as in July last year had a great experience at this restaurant, but after yesterday's lunch experience, I won't be returning.

Firstly the place needs a good clean, everything (tables, floors, windows, toilets) looked grimy and dirty, so I despair to think what state the kitchen was in.

Steak sandwich was a joke - the steak was so thin it was practically non-existent and came minus the caramelised onions and chutney detailed on the menu. When I queried as to where they were I was instructed to look under the steak - felt like I was playing hide and seek, but still no sight of anything. When I'd almost finished I was presented with a saucer containing caramelised onion, but had to remind again to get some chutney - another wait and along came a small dish of mango chutney - not what I'd serve with a steak sandwich. Very disappointing.

My daughter had a mochachino which she said was nothing more than hot chocolate, so she left it. She also ordered creme brulee with tuile, but there was no tuile and when we asked for it we were told they had run out.

I hope the new owners of this restaurant will try to do something to sort their problems, as they won't be in business for long if they don't.   (leannex - May, 2012)

Ordered a shrimp pizza which turned out to be 3 king prawns smothered in cheese so did not see shell when I bit into it.

Complained to waitress who could hardly speak any English, or at least gave that impression when I explained what the problem was.   (Clare - January, 2009)

We visited Invito recently - a group of 7 late 60,s young oldies. The service was excellent with great trouble to make sure we were warm enough outside. We were also offerred extra lighting!! Due to failing eyesight I presume but a nice thought. Being mostly "Helens" pensioners we appreciated the reasonable omlettes that were substanstial. Certainly good value for $. as was the rest of the menu. No where else in the City does one get a main under $20 that is not ethnic. Other places should take note of this. We dine out regulary before Plays & the Orchestra so we will certainly be back.We also consume alot of wine & that was reasonable as well. Barbara   (barbara - May, 2008)

I've been here twice- once for lunch and once for dinner and both times it was very good. The food was yummy and the wait staff were very friendly. It's good value for money as well- the portions well sized. I highly recommend the lasagna.   (CK - May, 2008)

After reading a review on this site, my wife and I decided to go here for our wedding anniversary. I was very disapointed to say the least. We ordered the seafood platter for 2 and out came a bowl of what looked like seafood chowder. I questioned this with the waiteress, whom replied " the new chef doesn't know how to do the platter".My wife ordered the Pollo Frangelica, which was over done and flavourless. I ordered the fish of the day, which didn't taste very fresh (watery, like it was just out of the freezer) and the veggies were tuff and bitter, as in like freezer burnt. We had a few mouthfuls and then left the rest. To top it off, we were half way through our drinks and the waiteress took them both away before we even came close to finishing them. For a $100 for 2 people, the burger on the way home was a bargin at $10. Sorry but we wouldn't recommend this place, unless you like "lucky dip" meals.   (Rick - February, 2008)

After a late wedneday night movies with my girlfriends we went looking for a place to grab a bite. Almost every place we went to was closing and we were in desperate need of food and finally we walked into this nice and beautiful area at chancery and find this very lovely place INVITO. At this time of the night the place was still so alive. Over all we had a great night.. They had great food, good service, good staffs and a beautiful ambience.   (Paul - November, 2007)
