"Having dined here on a few occasions, I would have to disagree with the previous reviewer. I have never found the food to be all that spectacular. The service has only been so so, with most staff being very unaware of what food allergies are. The place itself is terrific in structure and I do enjoy the large space and seating arrangement, however the lack of salads that are not drenched in dress.."
"It's difficult to dine here and not compare it to the hustle and bustle of the Dixon Street Deli in Wellington that it was made in the image of. The food is always of the best quality, and somehow you feel better for simply having eaten here. Traditional Jewish fare is missing albeit the small range of kosher fare that resides to the left of the counter, that thankfully the punters have no idea.." more reviews

Overall 4.3 - Food 6, Ambience 3, Value 5, Service 3
Having dined here on a few occasions, I would have to disagree with the previous reviewer. I have never found the food to be all that spectacular. The service has only been so so, with most staff being very unaware of what food allergies are. The place itself is terrific in structure and I do enjoy the large space and seating arrangement, however the lack of salads that are not drenched in dressing or healthier options has made me only rank the food slightly above average. However, the coffee is good and I still do pick up one when in the neighborhood, (See my reviews (5) - February, 2009) Overall 6.3 - Food 10, Ambience 4, Value 7, Service 4
It's difficult to dine here and not compare it to the hustle and bustle of the Dixon Street Deli in Wellington that it was made in the image of. The food is always of the best quality, and somehow you feel better for simply having eaten here. Traditional Jewish fare is missing albeit the small range of kosher fare that resides to the left of the counter, that thankfully the punters have no idea of. Gefilte Fish, Matso ball soup and latkes would make this place heaven on earth. (These are a few of my favourite things - March, 2008) |
